The ARIADNE network was launched in 1985 as a national initiative connecting universities, research institutions and scientific organizations across Greece. It played an important role in the development of the country’s academic networking infrastructure, helping pave the way for the wider adoption of the Internet and the later evolution of GRNET.

Over the years, ARIADNE supported the connectivity requirements of major scientific and public organizations, including NCSR “Demokritos”, the National Organization for Medicines (EOF), the Greek Atomic Energy Commission and more.

In 2014, DEVOQ contributed to the next stage of the network’s technological evolution, supporting the transition from traditional networking technologies to Software Defined Networking (SDN).

DEVOQ designed, implemented and brought into production a complete Software Defined Data Center Network, including routing and firewall infrastructure.

More than a decade later, the solution remains in production — demonstrating the value of solid architecture, engineering expertise and long-term technology design.
